Ha-ha-ha, awesome comment, Cloaking Device!

Melissa writes such awesome, spot-on posts so much of the time that it was a shame to see things disintegrate last year. I was a non-Hopium-addict also, and paid for that great SIN by being chastised, criticized, and generally patronized by many commenters and blog posters there.

But it was the “Please give me money for my hobby” stuff that sealed it for me.

Who needs it?

Thanks for this (followed your comment from RL). I used to visit Shakesville regularly & thought it was an awesome blog, right up until the general election. At which time, that site turned into such a shill blog for Obama, I couldn’t believe it was same blog that was skeptical of him previously. I couldn’t even go there anymore (I noticed aLOT of the old Hillary supporters left too). It was Barfsville all hopped up on the Hopium with boring hopey dopey happy posts. And their defensiveness over your comment says everything. “let’s not dig up all those old wounds!!” – i.e. “I don’t want to have to apologize for engaging in the VERY TACTICS that I now decry (manipulating people into voting for the Dem OR ELSE) and how dare you point out my hypocrisy!”. Whatever – how does that lemon feel, suckah?

I seem to recall several times when Melissa claimed that certain individuals or the Dems in general would have to “earn” her vote and that she would not soon forget whatever it was that they had done at the time. Which were later followed by glowing pictures of Obama with kids, Obama and Biden, and ultimately to that indulgent, self-congratulatory post about how she could justify voting for Obama.
